I was just wondering how you guys felt about Jason Blake's recent diagnosis with leukemia? Do you think it will have any profound impact on the team in any way?

I saw the short interview Versus did with him during the Sabres/Leafs game the other night and he seems very positive and optimistic about the whole thing which is always good to see. It's always difficult to see a member of the NHL family affected by illness or injury. I wish him, his family and friends, the Leafs, and Leafs fans the best of luck with dealing with this difficult situation.

As much as I am happy to see Blake wearing Blue n' White... I think the Leafs overpaid him. Like McCabe, the Leafs rewarded a player after one successful year...

not to say Blake sucks but there was no real competition for Blakes' services and the Leafs over-did themselves...

I see Blake finishing with 65-70 points... and a key factor if the Buds are to make the playoffs...

For sure I think it impacted the team. Wasn't it just announced to the media the day before that game against the Hurricanes and the Leafs were smoked 7 - 1? I know the prognosis is looking good for him, but even the slightest mention of illness of a player the organization just picked up is a blow. It's great that Blake is staying optimistic but he is probably going to need to do some major motivation (or show it in the games) that he will be fine. Overall, it is a bummer.

I don't belive it will change anything, i have hope, because it is a rare form of leukemia that if caught early enough (his was) then can be controlled by taking 1 pill a day. I belive that he will come out with a 30 goal season at least, he's fitting in well with the team, hes a great player and with in the next week he will have 5-6 goals.

I'm not a doctor or a pharmacist or have any type of medical training except first aid, but I don't think it'll affect him nor the team as long as he's taking that pill once a day. It's cancer on the blood cell and from what I've been reading, medical technology have come far enough to treat these things with a very high success rate.

i imagine you should remember that the leafs were third or so in words of the most guy video games lost to damage contained in the league very last 365 days, and they managed to make the playoff race exciting close to the top. i'm no longer asserting they're going to be taking the president's trophy or something like that, yet this crew might want to be contenders if it remains healthful...

from what he said it sounds like it's a treatable form of the disease...I say that if the Leafs are under .500 after 20 games them Paul Maurice should be fired and if they don't make the playoffs then John Ferguson should be next...bring back Pat Quinn

I am praying for him and hoping he will help this heart broken team to the play offs this year. He has one goal but it seems we have a few puck hogs on the team that won't pass the puck.
