What is your take on this play? Suspendable or not? Why or why not?

As a Detroiter and Wings fan, I am saying no. You can look at my history, and see I am a Tootoo hater, but it looked like he went to step over Draper, but maybe lost his footing or balance. I thought it looked worse when he jammed his stick in his gut, or when he clubbed him in the side of the head at the very end.

If Tootoo was a skill guy who was a Lady Byng candidate and never did anything questionable, I'd probably say benefit of the doubt.

But, this is Tootoo, and this is what he does. Questionable hits (and a lot of them), slew-foots, boarding from behind, etc.

Put an Anaheim #25 sweater on the guy who "steps" on the Detroit guy, and what's the number...5, 10, or more? Put a Toronto #44 sweater (who I cannot stand) on him...bidding starts at 10 games. What if that's Avery putting his foot down? Maybe the rest of the season then? If that's the case for these guys, then why would Tootoo get a free pass, when clearly he's a dirty player? There's two guys who "probably" get a free pass (and they shouldn't). Let's just say both play in the Eastern Conference and leave it at that.

He could have held up and tried to avoid contact and clearly didn't. Rather than stomp on the guy, he did this half-a$$ step-but-not-step. That could have had a potentially deadly result.

If you freeze frame the point where it looks like he steps on him... the bottom of his skate never touches the player at all. Tootoo drags the top side of his skate over the players body. I froze it and did a frame by frame and the only part of his skate that touches the wings player through the whole process is the top, tongue area of Tootoo's skate. He also puts very little pressure with his foot on the Wings player when the top of his skate contacts him (to the point the Wings player wasn't phased or seemed to even notice) Whether that in itself was intentional or he tried to cover it up, is a moot point. In a situation like that you could only be suspended for intent to injure. Since no blade made contact and there was no stomping downward motion, I think the NHL would have a hard time seeing that as intent to injure. Tootoo looked like he wanted to but caught himself and thought better before stomping so he dragged it. still I think he could of avoided but to answer the question... no not suspendable.

I don't think it was intentional, and I've done that before as well. There just wasn't a lot of room to maneuver with three players on the other side of Drapes.

To play devil's advocate here. If that was Steve Sullivan.....it would not be an issue, but because it was Tootoo..........people automatically assume it was deliberate.

I say - not intentional

I say - no suspension

Not that it matters - because Colin Campbell never calls me up and says 'LITY - take a look at this will ya? Whadya think?"

Just never happens.

Wow, that's a tough one, so glad I'm not on that committee to solve that situation. He clearly stepped on him, no doubt, but he also seemed to hold back as if he realized there was going to be some repercussions or a serious injury, if he went all out. Ehh? Tootoo is a Tool Tool for sure but that is a lot less then the Pronger stomp I think.

Suspend-able not for the intent but for the lack of intelligence involved in the motion.

Ahhhh... the good ol' Tootoo Stomp. (sounds like some kinda dance haha..)

Anyway...

It looks like he wasn't putting 100% effort into getting that skate over Drapes, but at the same time he seems to have bent his blade in a bit so as to avoid getting it in Draper's back. This is a tough one. On purpose or not, I don't know. Suspension? Probably not, the footage isn't conclusive enough.

He meant to step on him. Tootoo attempted to cover it up as accidental, but he failed. It looked like he pushed the guy to keep him down so he could step on him. I say suspend him for a game, and that's that..

Considering it was Jordin TooToo that did it, he proablly meant to do that, but with him going after the puck im gonna have to say he should not be suspended because it was the fastest way of getting to the puck.

I am a Wings fan and after watching it a few times I would have to say it was not intentional. It looked more like he stumbled and was trying to step over him and Drapes was just in his way more than anything.

Hi

Maybe others are seeing something I wasn't, but where is the stomp. Sure looked like he tripped as he was trying to step over him. Guess I need to hurry up and get a new computer so when I watch these I can see all the little details.

it is permissible that in the heat of a corner battle MAYBE you step on someone by accident however its tootoo the dude is a wing nut... and it looks to me that he put extra presser on the guy i say 1-3 games to tone him down a bit

Homes: Heeyyyyy i dont record the games with a camcorder!

Kind of off subject here, but isn't it sad people actually use their camcorders while watching a game to be the first on youtube when something goes down like this. A guy that does something like this is the same kind of guy that jerks off in front of the mirror. Yeah, this answer is getting reported.

Well, it is obvious it was on purpose. Suspended him for a game....and move on.

2 games for just being an idiot. what tootoo does is always deliberate. if he no control of his body, i would say blow it off. but the picture doesn't lie.

As a Wings fan, I'm screaming inside saying "SUSPEND THAT ***!"

Looking at it a few times, I don't think he intended to do it but he needed to be more careful.

Oh, Bobster.. the company I work for unfortunately does not allow videos, or any sites under certain phrases. Since I can't see it, I'll just say that it's not Detroit's fault.

Yes, he should have been suspended for one game.

Yeah, he should be supended. It looked like he stepped on Franzen's back on purpose, and he could have cut him.

I'd say yes. It looked deliberate.
