Question:
When do you boo at hockey games?

After reading in a question yesterday that people booed an 18-year-old prospect's play in his first ever NHL preseason game, I thought to myself, "What won't people boo?"

So it inspired a silly boo questionnaire:

1) What other times (besides my example) do you think booing is NOT appropriate?

2) What are times that you find booing appropriate?

3) Do you, yourself, boo? When?

4) What team's fans boo the most? (I have a guess/opinion.)

5) Have you ever been confused and thought you heard booing when it was something else? (Like the "LUUU!" chant for Luongo by Canucks fans. Yeah, I've forgotten about it before and thought I heard booing.)

A hated player get at a certain rink (ie Crosby in Philly) get take out in a stretcher

2) What are times that you find booing appropriate?

Home teams stinks the joint out, Goalie lets in a bad goal. Ref makes a bad call. and hated player touches puck

Yes examples in 2

Montreal by far

1) What other times (besides my example) do you think booing is NOT appropriate?

When fans don't understand a call. (Watch a Sharks game when a linesman calls icing.). Also, when an injured player is helped off the ice.

2) What are times that you find booing appropriate?

I've booed bad ref calls and dirty plays. I boo-hooed after game 7 of the SCF this year.

3) Do you, yourself, boo? When?

Bad calls, as above. I used to boo Federov - but I have since recovered my my heartbreak over him leaving.

4) What team's fans boo the most? (I have a guess/opinion.)

Sharks, hands down.

5) Have you ever been confused and thought you heard booing when it was something else? (Like the "LUUU!" chant for Luongo by Canucks fans. Yeah, I've forgotten about it before and thought I heard booing.)

In hockey, no. I used to think they booed Lou Whittaker (Detroit Tigers) when they were calling him Louuuuu, Louuuu. (I guess that goes with the Luongo cheer.)

When I'm doing the dishes.

2) What are times that you find booing appropriate?

When I cut someone off.

3) Do you, yourself, boo? When?

Yes when commercials come on.

4) What team's fans boo the most? (I have a guess/opinion.)

Believe it or not it's the Bandwagon Penguin fans.

5) Have you ever been confused and thought you heard booing when it was something else? (Like the "LUUU!" chant for Luongo by Canucks fans. Yeah, I've forgotten about it before and thought I heard booing.)

There was a Texas Rangesr player named Steve Buechele and everytime he went to the plate fans would say "BUUUUUUUUECHELE". I was younger and I thought the fans didn't like him.

1) When a team's player is being carried off the ice on a stretcher after being headhunted. And to their credit, most Calgary fans cheered Okposo.

2) When a player punches another player in the nutsack from behind, or when the home team goalie gives up 7 goals on 8 shots. Then the derisive cheer when he finally makes a save.

3) Sure, when the refs take the ice, when the visiting team takes the ice, or whines about a call, gets away with a call, scores a goal, etc.

Or when someone gives a hostile homer answer..BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

4) Canadiens or Rangers...just guessing here.

5) When am I not confused? I guess when hearing Rutuu's name or something like that.

01. I don't really like booing but no one listens to me. It is certainly not appropriate if someone is injured.

02. Appropriate? It's never appropriate. it's accepted, though.

03. Rarely. I rarely boo. Having Chris Pronger step onto the ice is an exception for me.

04. Nashville's fans seem to boo a lot. I have this theory it is because a lot of them don't know that much about hockey. At least that's the way it used to be. Frankly, I don't really pay attention to the booing. I really hate it when crowds do that sing-songy calling of the goalie's name after they let a goal in.

05. Sure. I think, what the heck then I realize what they are really saying and think....ohhhh!!!!

2. When the Pens and/or Flames play. Especially when a Pens or Flames player scores.

3. Yes. When the Pens and Flames are on the ice.

4. Every team's fans besides the Pens and Flames's fans boo the most.

5. Nope, I can feel the anger in the boos when the Pens and Flames play.

I'll boo whenever the opposing team does something good...just to drown out the cheers of their fans.

Worst booing ever was the Montreal Canadians Fans against the Bruins at home, booing the American National Anthem two years ago in the playoffs. No class at all.

Yeah....an Erica Question!

1) When some players is diagnosed with something, and he screws up. Booing is not appropriate then.

2) Booing is appropriate during bad calls.....or when a player showboats.

3) I only boo refs, like Lubers (Just warming up my smack talk)

4) Down here....it is the Rangers. Cripes, they are like monkeys with rabies. Okay, I have no clue what I meant by that.

5) LOL......I have once booed my own team. I was looking at a minor incident in front of the bench, but I was ignoring the poor performance by my team on the other side of the ice.

Jaguar: Meh....I don't find monkeys to be very cute. They remind me of hairy men. I don't mind a chest hair....and I can even handle a little back hair, but when your fingers look like sausage links covered in steel wool, I draw the line.

1) No matter what country one is from and which anthem is sung, show respect.

2) When the goalie is playing as if auditioning for amateur night at the gentleman's club downtown.

3) I have, see question two; also when the ref's are so bad they make it seem like Stevie Wonder has 20/20 vision.

4) Loyal fans of non-playoff teams. This seems to be especially appropriate for both Rangers and Leafs fans.

5) BOOOOOO for Robin Bouchard, i'd not looked in the program and didn't realise he was 1 goal away from 600 in his pro career.

1. When a guy is being carried out via stretcher.

2. Any opposing team doing anything...that's just fair game. lol

3. Yeah, see above.

4. Habs. And then they cry racism, followed by a city-wide riot that embarrasses the rest of the country, let alone hockey fans in general.

5. Yeah...when my fellow idiot Leafs fans decided to rip off the LOOOOO thing for Schenn. I knew that we're not the brightest and very self-centered, but hot damn....

Boooooo to Amanda
