Do you want a Canadian team to win the cup if your favorite team is eliminated?

It's been 19 years since the Habs hoisted the cup in 1993. It looks like Vancouver and Ottawa will be the only Canadian teams in the playoffs this season.

I am Canadian and my favourite team (Calgary) MIGHT have a chance to get into the playoffs but I'm not banking on it.
You know I thought about this the other day. This country has not had the cup in a long time. I TA a class where some university students were born AFTER the last time a Canadian team won the cup and that, admittedly, was almost a little disturbing.
The hockey fan in me, however, disagrees with that mentality. I really think the best team deserves to win regardless of where they are. I really try to ignore the border when talking about sports. There's alot of US based teams that I really like to watch and I tend to root for such as: Pheonix (although I really want them to lose right now), Tampa Bay, LA (I also need them to lose lol), Colorado (my team has many enemies lol)..and I've always had a soft spot for Buffalo. I like all of those teams alot and would probably cheer for them over alot of Canadian teams such as Edmonton or Toronto. I really like how the nucks play too though, and I like Ottawa soo..... I like to say I'm the type of person that likes the GAME as opposed to the nation, but we'll see what pulls my heart strings next month.

Im a huge Leaf fan, so my team doesn't really have a shot. Being that I live in Ottawa, however, I would like to see the Sens have a nice Stanley Cup run. I saw what it did for the city in 07 and it was phenomenal. It'd be great to see it happen again.
I wouldn't mind seeing Vancouver winning either, but it wouldn't be my first choice of Canadian teams to win.

Ok in the playoffs, each series, I pick my favorite team and cheer for them. I live in PEI, Canada, but I like Boston, New York and Pittsburgh too. It's not like all Canadians only cheer for the Habs or whatever the leafs or sens or something like that in my house there is 1 all habs fan, one Toronto and Habs (bad blood) and one leafs. And than there is me, who cheers for whatever team I like or I don't hate. But all of us in our house cheer like that. i guess I want Ottawa to win out of the Canadian teams left, Toronto can't win it. I'd like to see the Rangers do it though. Vancouver will start another riot if they lose the final so I say knock them out in the quarters!!! lol

Maybe I am a little prejudice against Canadian teams. I would rather see a US team win but my excuse is that I think it helps the popularity of the sport grow in the US if a US team wins the cup. I wouldn't mind as much if the Canadian team is Ottawa.

I root for both Pittsburgh and Colorado in the playoffs, just a fan of both. If both are eliminated I'd normally root for the Eastern team in the final as long as it isn't Philly. It doesn't look like a Canadian team from the East is gonna take it so, not likely.
Last year I picked Boston but didn't root for either.

That would depend on which Canadian team(s) is/are remaining in the playoffs. As a Blackhawks fan, I will not cheer for the Canucks. The only Canadian teams that I like are the Maple Leafs, Jets and, to a lesser extent, the Flames. I could care less about the Oilers, Senators and Canadiens.
I would really like to see the Jets be the next Canadian team to win the Stanley Cup.

I like the Sedins and I rooted for them to win last year. But this year, Nashville is a team I'm rooting for to win. Small market, one of the positive expansion teams that was put into a market that isn't a traditional hockey market and has thrived. But it's about time a Canadian team won the Cup. Personally, I prefer it to be Montreal or even Toronto but nevertheless, Canada deserves to have a Cup winner.

19 years ago, Montreal took the one chance my Kings have ever had at a cup for their 23rd.
I consider the past 19 years of drought to be the curse of the Kings on the Canadians... all the Canadians
No Stanley Cup for Canada until after the Kings win their 1st

It depends on what Canadian teams are left. I don't expect all Canadians to cheer for my favourite team if they make the finals (and not everybody did), just like it would be a cold day in hell before I cheered for the Leafs.

it would want to come right down to San Jose Sharks vs. Carolina Hurricanes a hurricane might want to throw a shark it really is in shallow water into boat docks or something on the waterfront killing it. yet having suggested that a shark might want to swim to deeper water and probably experience it out as a thanks to assert then some hours later the hurricane might want to bypass then disappear and the shark might want to nonetheless be alive. Any animal that got here after a shark might want to finally drown. An Avalanche sorry Christina inspite of the undeniable fact that the avalanche might want to soften in salt water. in case you contain NFL mascots the Miami Dolphins might want to surely be a undertaking dolphins can kill sharks by ability of ramming the sharks gills with their nostril and give way them and the shark will die. yet merely between NHL mascots the winner might want to be the Shark. flow SHARKS

If my favorite team is eliminated, I root for whichever team I hate less in the remaining series. It has nothing to do with which country they're from.

No. My Blues havent won in 43 years so I could care less about Canadian teams problems. I would only root for Canada if they were facing the Pens, my least favorite team. Otherwise, no dice.
