Colorado Avalanche - Joe Sakic

Columbus Blue Jackets - Sergei Fedorov

Dallas Stars - Mike Modano, Mike Ribeiro

Detroit Red Wings - Henrik Zetterberg, Pavel Datsyuk, Nicklas Lidstrom

Edmonton Oilers - Sheldon Souray

Florida Panthers - Richard Zednik

Los Angeles Kings - Anze Kopitar

Minnesota Wild - Mikko Koivu

Montreal Canadiens - Alexi Kovalev, Saku Koivu, Maxim Lapierre

Nashville Predators - Jordin Tootoo

New Jersey Devils - Martin Brodeur, Zach Parise

New York Islanders - Rick DiPietro, Miroslav Satan

New York Rangers - Jaromir Jagr, Henrik Lundqvist, Brendan Shanahan

Washington Capitals - Alexander Ovechkin, Alexander Semin

3. The Montreal Canadiens, The Detroit Red Wings, The New York Islanders, The Pittsburgh Penguins, The Washington Capitals, The Vancouver Canucks, Tampa Bay Lightning, The Buffalo Sabres, The Anaheim Ducks, The Nashville Predators, The Atlanta Thrashers

4. No gimmicks

5) RDS, FSN, TSN, NHL Network, NBC, VERSUS, CBC

6) I don't think I would have a slogan, lol

7) Johnny Depp, Oprah Winfrey, Everyone on the Food Network, Jude Law, Mike Myers, Will Ferrel, Conan O Brien,

Jim Carrey, the list goes on..

8) RBK, Starbucks (just because I live in Canada and I hate the Tim Hortons commercials they are so dumb & because Starbucks is better), all the other current sponsers!

But my commercials would all be funny ones with NHL players. Because commericals can be very boring and pointless.

9) Yes, I would. I would also have many cool features like MIC'D up (it's always fun to listen to your favorite players swear), Goalie Cam, More special features about NHL hockey players, more outdoor games, musical guests for national anthem or intermission, etc.

1.) I would try to target various age groups

2.) I would try to promote at least a few key players from every NHL team - not ONLY Crosby or Ovechkin... and not ONLY the most notable All-Star players. But I would still go for names and faces people would recognize from all across the NHL.

3.) Start off with the original teams, and move outward to every team

4.) No, no gimmicks.......

5.) Any network that will have it... but I would not want to cater to the major networks and take away from the smaller or local networks that currently show a lot of hockey... (like, try for more NHL on NBC and ESPN, but also support it on FSN, VS, etc.)

6.) I wouldn't want to encapsulate the entire league in one slogan... at least, not unless someone came up with something REALLY effective and timeless, too

7.) Any celebrity that genuinely likes or at least appreciates hockey

8.) Any well-respected companies... not a big fan of drug companies supporting it... I like sports equipment companies, banks, etc.

9.) YES! You can't build a bigger appreciation for hockey without incorporating the sport's history and mysticism

----- I would, at any rate, show more NHL commercials... I'd like to see a whole series of the "hockey fans aren't like other fans" commercials...

1)If I could I would put another team in Canada, but the fact is there is no city where they can support one. Just leave it the way it is or maybe take out a few teams there are to many IMO. I would want all ages, from every race to watch hockey.

2) The young stars Sidney, dazzlers like Datsyuk, and the bruisers like Pronger.

3) The original 6

4) Like Copas said before I would hire the creators of Bud light commercials to promote the NHL. Commerical's alone would bring in fans who are baffled when it comes to hockey.

5) I won't go after ESPN, I would keep it with Versus until ESPN begs for some air time. Until then they can keep the spelling bee. Or accept to any bigger name company's.

6) " Were steroid free!"

7) Jim Carrey would reel in millions.

8) I would bring Nike back, and ditch the Reebok jerseys.

9) Ya a few here and there.

9 O yes.

1. If it has a pulse, I'm targeting it (yep, I want animals to watch too, lol jk). People ages 8-30.

2. I'd try to promote at least someone from each team, but the main guys would have to be Crosby and Ovechkin.

3. Pittsburgh Penguins, NY Rangers, Detroit Red Wings, Philly Flyers, Avalanche, Sharks, Ducks and Sabres too cause they're popular in Buffalo.

4. I dunno.

5. ESPN! and ABC and Fox too.

6. I think the current one is "The coolest game on earth" I'd keep it.

7. ??? I don't know, whichever ones actually like hockey I guess.

8. Budweiser, Coors, Pepsi, Doritos, Apple, ummmmm, I don't know, a whole lot of them.

9. YES! Definitely.

1. Ages 16-26

2. Alexander Ovechkin, Sidney Crosby, Henrik Zetterberg, Ilya Kovalchuk, Niklas Lidstrom

3. The Original Six

4. More outdoor games.

5. NBC, ABC, FOX.

6. I wouldn't have a slogan. Just A LOT MORE COMMERCIALS.

7. I HATE CELEBRITIES!

8. I would get one more really big sponsor but I don't know who.

9. Yeah definitely.

I would also put a cap on regular season single game ticket prices for the upper decks or nose bleed seats in every teams stadium. I don't know how exactly but somehow I would try to do that and still make it fair for every team.

Gotta get in with the biggies, ABC, NBC, and Fox. Screw CBS

If it feels good, keep doing it

7. Which celebrities are you vying for to sell the league?

Alec Baldwin, Mike Myers, Tom Hanks, and hot chicks

Absolutly, I show video of Gordie Howe breaking noses with his elbows.

1. All ages

2. Hockey Players

3. All 30

4. No gimmicks, no bullsh!t.

5. If ESPN doesn't want anything to do with the NHL, I'd shoot for USA, everyone most likely gets it, on basic cable at that. If TNT can have basketball, then whats wrong with USA?

6. This ain't your grandmas bingo nancy, it's the NHL.

7. The players themselves

8. Gatorade because I like it. Ford, GM, and Dodge, may as well help those once proud giants as well as the once proud, soon to be prouder(is that a word?) NHL.

9. Of course.

1. Women are the largest contributor to the sport's growth, both in terms of participation and viewership. Women have more disposable income and, up until recently, not many suitors in the professional sports arenas. I'm not sure pink jerseys are going to get the job done by themselves. lol

2. I think the NHL is doing itself a disservice by putting all of its eggs in the Crosby basket. There is a wealth of exciting talent in the league and spreading the visibility factor to some of the other players will lend the sport more dimension and insulate it from the possibility of the one golden goose getting injured (sound familiar?).

3. The regional aspect of the sport is something the league has been grappling with for as long as I can remember. The recent move to an imbalanced schedule may have been the sign that management had finally given in to this phenomenon but, I'm afraid they were short-sighted in that decision.

I would assume a hybrid strategy that would benefit from showcasing the natural, existing geographic rivalries while exposing fans of all teams to a visit from the league's other 29 franchises. The Center Ice package is the only instrument allowing a fan of hockey - not just a specific team - to follow the sport with any degree of exposure and immersion.

4. I like what teams do on a grass roots level to introduce fans to teams and players off the ice and tying it in to a variety of charitable causes. Of course, I don't view these efforts as gimmicks. The in-arena, trivia and t-shirt gong shows I can do without. I think it takes away from the product on the ice and is too great a distraction in exchange for the entertainment of 10 year olds. Sacrilege, I know. lol

5. You can refer to my response to question 3 for this. The league's need for a National Network is debatable, in my eyes. What the NHL needs is a means of delivering their product to more than 50% of potential viewers in the US as is now the case with Versus. The NBC deal cannot bridge that gap by itself, nor can it recruit new fans with its minimal commitment to coverage.

NBC is where hockey fans go to watch playoff games because that's where they're being broadcast. I don't see non-hockey fans tuning in on a Saturday afternoon in Spring because they are intrigued or because they only have 4 other channels to choose from for their TV entertainment. They'll just watch something else until the Preakness is on.

So, yes, an ESPN-like presence coupled with the NHL Center Ice coverage would show infinite improvement over what is currently in place. Ultimately, HD is what will save the sport on TV but if half the people can't even get the game through their cable provider, it really doesn't matter if the lights are even on at the arena.

6. I get paid for this stuff so, sorry, no repsonse at this time. haha I will say this, however. The NHL has not had an authentic, passion-invoking campaign since it's "Get Cup Crazy" effort from many moons ago.

7. There are a slew of celebrities that play and follow the sport. Jerry Bruckheimer built his own rink in a barn on some property he owns in Kentucky, for cripes sake. Are you telling me the league couldn't get Bruckheimer to get his hockey pals together for some impactful material to promote the NHL?

8. This is the one area where the NHL has maximized its opportunities. I wouldn't mess with much on this front.

9. At some point down the line, yes. There are many more urgent pieces to address first, particularly given the existing sense of history a significant portion of hockey fans already possess.

1) I'm focusing mainly on capitalizing on american cities and targeting teenagers.

2) I promote current big names liek Crosby and Ovechkin and lesser known players like Lecavilier and Kovalchuk.

3) To popularize the game w/fans I encourage fighting, and add cheerleaders

4)None

5) I buyout the league's contract w/Versus and negoiate a deal w/ESPN. This brings the league to a network everyone has and encourages hockey highlights on Sportscenter

6) Slogan: No

7) I don't think celeberty endorsements are huge and don't prioritize that

8) I get Bud Light as a major sponsor

9) Not really because to get new fans I need to promote current stars not ones who average joes haven't heard of

1. 30-50 (Face it, the league is a gate-driven revenue system, you need to target the people who can afford top come to games)

2. Sidney Crosby, Ilya Kovalchuk, Jarome Iginla, and Richard Park

3. All of them.

4. Gimmicks? We don't need no effin gimmicks

5. All of them. Ideally there will be a national game of the week in both countries, and each team is free to pursue their own deals.

6. I don't think we need a slogan

7. None. I don't think that we need celebrities to promote the league.

8. Same as today, but maybe ask for a 20% increase. General Motors, IBM, Anheuser-Busch/MolsonCoors, etc

9. Definitely................based on your previous question a few weeks back.............Bobby Orr will be all over American TV too! :)
