If avery is blocking the net, it is understandable that brodeur would be mad, but if Avery tried to solve the differences by asking Brodeur for a handshake, and Brodeur looks away, is it his fault?
Also, will this carry over in your opinion?
Thanks

I haven't really paid much attention to this series in terms of press coverage or Avery starting controversy to media outlets. I saw the unorthodox way he screened Brodeur but thats bout it.
There's no denying Avery was a huge factor, in a good way, for the Rangers this series.
Brodeur should have let bygones be bygones, shook his hand and said, "You're an a.ss...but good luck next round."
Patrick Roy would probably have shook Avery's hand and we all know what a class act Patrick is ;)

Marty 'The Diver' has no class. He refused to shake Avery's hand because Avery beat him on the scoresheet and between his ears. To break a hockey tradition like the handshake sows that Broduer is a no class loser.
Everyone talks about Avery's antics, what about Brodeur acting like he got shot by a cannon every time someone touched him. If he stood on his feet and watched the play maybe he could have mad e a few more saves. Diving is unsportsmanlike as well. Not shaking hands is no class. Brodeur is a piece of crap.

Well, I think Avery stared it all by trying to distract Brodeur the way he did. I think Brodeur should've gone ahead and shook Avery's hand, to set a good example for all of the young hockey players out there, but I can sure understand why he didn't, and I don't really think he's a terrible guy for not. In the video of the handshake line, I didn't Avery offer his hand to Brodeur, it looked like to me he was waiting for Brodeur to make the first move and kinda kneel to him. If Avery really wanted to be a good guy, he sould've offered his hand first.
I think to some degree it might carry over, but not a whole lot.

As much as it pains me to say it, I would have had to give it to Avery for trying to shake his hand. But, then he went and screwed it up by calling Brodeur a Fatso to the media, thus taking him back down to his usual douchebag level.
Fact of the matter is, Brodeur is a great goalie and well-respected around the league, him not shaking his hand wont tarnish his image. And I don't blame him, the handshake is supposed to be a sign of respect, Avery does not deserve his respect. Avery is a known a** in the league and is obviously not trying to change his image, if he wants to be respected he's got to stop being such a douche and respecting other players.

I think that Brodeur should have taken the apology.
But, I think they can both take the blame. Obviously, Avery shouldn't have started it by floating in front of the net when Brodeur was saving shots yet Brodeur should have accepted the apology.
It might take time for Brodeur to get over it. It is playoff hockey after all, and every game is important.
My brother is a BIG Devils fan and Brodeur is his favorite player.

It's Avery's fault for the shenanigans, but Brodeur is just being a big baby about the whole thing.

avery is a ranger, so of course the devils wont like him. his an agitator, so its worse with him.
brodeur's fault. avery did not need to appologize. that was legal and he was doing what he could to help his team win. brodeur started crying because his team lost. he could have ended the affair right there with the hand shake but he prolonged it by ignoring avery (so yes, i think it will carry over). besides, it is an implied sport rule, when ur supposed to shake hands, u do it, no matter how much u dont want to.

It is easy to offer a handshake when you've won. Brodeur is a very passionate player, which we can forget sometimes because as a goaltender he has to keep his composure to an even higher degree than other players on the ice. But if he didn't care so much about every game, and every shot on goal, he wouldn't be the future hall-of-famer that he is. He deserves a moment to cool off after such a frustrating situation. Things will certainly not carry over. I don't think refusing a hand shake is as much poor sportsmanship as bad timing at that moment. Not like refusing to attend the pro-bowl, for example.

It's probably Avery's fault but being a huge Rangers fan i think it was a good idea for Avery to try to get Brodeur out of his game.I think it will carry over because everyone hates Avery!

I think it is very understandable for Brodeur to get mad because Avery is a f*%#&^g basstard!!!Nobody can make peace with Avery!!!!
Brodeur is such a nice person! And if he's mad there should be a reason!

Brodeur. I understand it wasn't sportsmanlike to stand in front of the net when your team is in the zone but you do what you have to do to score. He should have put his emotions aside and shooken Avery's hand. So many kids look up to Marty and by doing this now tons of kids will followup by doing it in youth hockey. There will be bad blood between the two next year but someone will have to do something to get either started.

The problem wasn't him blocking the net that happens all the time the problem was him waving his stick and tonting brodeur. And i don't think Avery was trying to solve there differences. Yes it will carry over i don't see that being forgotten. However brodeur my be considering retirement.

sean avery is a sucka, and we all knew it before he pulled this stint, acting like he's the only one who can bohoo the goalie and play the psyche game so that his team can go ahead. aside from that, yeah he's a pretty alright hockey player, but for real, for his **** to make the news, and for brodeur to take him seriously that was all crap. if jersey had any tough guys on their team to cancel out avery, it would have been done, hahah or marty would have liked to do that himself, but he just remained doing his job, but all was lost cause he let avery get to him and seriously jersey didn't even show up for this series. not surprised. i don't respect sean avery as an athlete, and i don't like his antics, and i also don't appreciate him bringing canadiens into the whole thing in his dumb & insulting comments post game. i hope ruutu staples him a good one haha. he's a **** disturber, a good one, and also an alright hockey player...if i really needed him on my team i would take him because atleast he has passion, but if i was given that option (even if i was desperate), i wouldn't go near him. there are only a bunch of hockey players i dislike, and he's on that list.

i do think that it was immature of brodeur, but i see why he did it. avery might be saying sorry, but is he really? hes probably gonna be on broeurs case next year. its just like when ur parents make you say sorry for beating up ur little brother since hes being annoying. you dont mean it and its probably going to happen again, but it makes people feel better when you say ur sorry

Avery done his job, and quite well. Brodeur being the veteran ace goaltender he is should not have let Avery get under his skin. It's the playoffs! He only has himself to blame for this.
Yes it will carry over, no doubt!
Avery - 1
Brodeur - 0
And I don't even like Avery, but I give him credit for a job well done.

Avery is a punk but a punk that does his job. Martin should just man up and shake the moron's paw and get it over with.

Avery actually looks like the good guy in this instance.
Avery did his job and got Marty and Devils off their game and focused on him. While I'm not fan of his antics but he will do what he can for his team to win.
Marty didn't do his job and his team lost and he ended up looking a bit like a sore loser.

There's a difference between screening the goalie and screening the goalie while acting like a monkey. That said, that was bloody brilliant of Avery and if he wants to act like a monkey, let him. lol
It was Avery's fault.

Technically, all the controversy is caused by the people talking about it. It would be a faint memory if the reporters and such didn't talk so much about it.
