Yes I am doing another one of these only this time they are more unlikely and bizzare.

1.Washington Capitals make a huge comeback and finish the season as the #2 seed. Then in the first round against the Winnipeg Jets, the Caps take a 3-0 series lead. Winnipeg then ties the series 3-3, and in game 7 Washington chokes a 8-0 lead.

2.The Boston Bruins finish as the #1 seed and face the #8 Toronto Maple Leafs. However, Phil Kessel and Dion Phaneuf both get injured and can't play in the series. But Toronto surprised everyone in Boston. In game 1 the Maple Leafs win 21-0 and 9-0 in game 2. Game 3 in Toronto, the Leafs win 8-1. Then in game 4 the Maple Leafs have some trouble win the game in 4 OT 1-0.

I'd go with boston... because Washington is in such a drought... Boston is a consistent, strong team, all across the board, Toronto, isn't...

Washington is having huge problems, Ovechkin unproductive and lazy, Boudreau fired replaced by a coach that isn't able to win with the team. Nothing seem to boost that team, while Boston is on fire... and are warriors...Adding to the fact that Boston is a member of the original 6 while Washington never won anything and even though they have a really good line-up on paper not being able to put these guys together is a proof that the quality of an organization is never exclusively the players/coaching staff etc, but also the psychological study of the team....

Got off topic there. But Boston is a stronger team with way more depth and is doing really well, while Washington isn't that deep and is having a tons of problem.

You picked good examples. The two I would have come up with. But the Stanley Cup winning team being bounced in the first round actually happens. It's not that big a deal. The Ducks were bounced in the 1st round after winning the cup, anyone remember that? The Blackhawks lost in the first round last year, although that was a little more understandable.

I think the Capitals losing in the first round would cause heads to roll. The entire management team would be fired. Semin would definitely be gone. They might even shop Ovechkin's contract. They're beyond running out of excuses.

Heads will roll in Washington if that happens.

2nd one isn't so bad. Seeding doesn't really matter in NHL. Stuff have happen. Remember Flyer the 8th seed a couple of years ago went all the way to final? However i don't see Tim Thomas giving up that much goals. The 1st one just flat out embarrassing squandering 3 games lead to lose in 7 especially given Caps recent playoff problem. Again, still don't see either team score this many goals.

2 real good scenarios. The first would be the worst. Seeing as washington is such an overrated highly liked team with one of the best players on the team losing to a "Brand New Team" that has quite a few rookies and made mostly of young players.

Number 2. I would feel bad for Tim Thomas or Tuukka Rask though.

1.Because it would really sting but it wouldn't shock me because its the Caps.
