sabres/leafs game on versus?

have you noticed that during the sabres/leafs game, the announcer (i dont know his name), kept calling the net a cage. and he called the skate a boot. this dude is so retarded, he doesnt even know hockey. he was absolutely horrible

He uses words like that. It's his style. I don't have a problem with it.



He's not a great announcer, but most of it is subjective anyways. Look at Rick Jeanneret--some folks love him, some folks don't, some folks would rather listen to nails screeching on a chalkboard. He's not nearly as good as some of the Canadian announcers--even Bob Cole can describe the flow of the game pretty well. Jim Highson is the best IMO. But the guys on versus are not that bad.

I think Doc Emerik is the best, but that's because I'm a Devils fan--AND because he always said "Brick native Jim Dowd" when describing that Forward--a guy I know from Brick Township High School in NJ. Not only that, but as someone else remarked, he and Chico Resch are very fair about play and penalties and really care about the game.

What I've laways liked about hockey announcing as opposed to other sports is that the announcer don't cave in whena ref calls somethi9ng. If they don't like it, they say so. Compare the NFL, where announcer talk as if the officals are God and can do no wrong.

I never really like the national broadcasts of any hockey game. I always get discouraged when I see my home team being nationally played because that means I miss out from my local broadcast team. In my case San Jose on FSN Bay Area. It isn't just Versus(OLN), the old ESPN broadcasts were bad as well. They need to get people in there that are regular NHL broadcasters. Instead they pick the universal ones that not only try to do hockey but do basketball, baseball, and many other sports. Pick one, and stay with it...

JK- I agree that Hughson is a good one but Bob Cole???? He used to be able to call the flow of the game but senility has got the best of him. He will say Sundin passes to Antropov and Sundin will be seated on the bench, he is brutal. Put me among the Jeanerett haters. Screaming at me like a soccer commentator, really screaming when Buffalo scores, annoying little descriptions.

I appreciate when play by play guys just call the game without bias. Appreciate both teams. It is not only a valid penalty when it is for their team and a terrible penalty when against their team. It really annoys me when they can't see a game for the game itself. I am a hater for the most part when it comes to announcers. Some are OK though.

I hate when the sabres games are shown on VS. I always turn my radio on and watch the tv with the sound off..although the sound never matches up..but I hate the announcers..they totally hate buffalo, and even did last year when we were so great! It stinks to listen to them all they do is talk about the other team and their players...hate it:)

Versus is complete BS. They do not know how to do hockey. The announcers are complete idiots....Don Cherry is the greatest there will ever be, he knows the the game of hockey up and down and every part of it

suited pastime, between the terrific feeling you have gotten as a tumbler. yet finding at 20 strike outs/9 innings, thats the terrific feeling as a tumbler, i know folk say its a team attempt to have a suited pastime no longer inevitably, a no-hitter is completed as working as a team, yet whilst the pitcher walks a batter the suitable pastime is long previous, so purely a no-hitter may be finished as a team. yet we are actually not talking approximately team artwork or no longer, over right here we would like purely the pitcher, so i my opinion if i became a tumbler, which btw i might newer be regardless of if each and every physique different than me lost their hands. i might fairly have 20 Ks because exhibits finished domination, and the executive, crowd, and your team will rather rejoice with you keeping the ball between the pitcher and the catcher. so i might bypass with 20Ks/9 ings. i agree with you i look more forward to watching the sabres games when RJ does the calls on TV i hate versus too and you yesterdays game was the first one i was able to watch live i watched the otherones later that night b/c i worked and i recorded them

"the cage" i hear used pretty frequently, but overall, i agree, i hate watching games on VS. it reminds me of middle school leagues on public access TV. I can never remember the female announcers name, but did anyone see when she was talking to darcy and she goes, "blar de blar the loss of chris drury and...and...uh...::snaps fingers to signal she's drawing a blank...daniel briere" I was like lady, please.
