did they mandate these guys to wear them this season...havent paid attention to it but it was weird not seeing kerry frasiers hair last night

Yes, the NHL has mandated that all referees to wear helmets. Fraiser and McGough are the two last referees in NHL history to ever not wear a helmet. This is in accordance to the NHL players union in which they are working on ways to make the game safer for not only the players but, the referees.

Yup, everyone wears helmets in the NHL now. Too many head injuries from previous years. Plus I think last year a ref took a puck in the head and cracked his skull!
Everyone has to wear helmets but not everyone has to wear a face guard.

yeah they did. i couldn't belive it the first time i couldn't saw frasier's hair (he probaly still keeps it perfectly gelled)
