PK Subban is a great defenseman, I just really hopes he Improved over the summer and knows how to tone it down this year. It has came along way, the first player being Willie O'Ree....played 2 games with the Boston Bruins in 1958, and 41 games in 1961. He didn't play that long, but he was the one that broke into the NHL as the first black player and made it possible for others to accomplish their goals. I don't look at players races, they all bring something to the game. If your a good player, your a good player no matter what race/nationality you are. Since you ask us to pick a favorite, I think Jarome Iginla is an amazing player that has been loyal to his team. He puts up the numbers, leads his players to win games, and draws in the fans. Although, when he is against my team, I don't like him that much haha!

I'm biased toward Dustin Byfuglien because I'm a Blackhawk fan and will always have a special place for him in my book. He was THE DOMINANT FORCE on that team. Plus he's very versatile. I've never seen a player have the ability to streamline between forward and defenseman with the snap of a finger. Plus, at the NHL skills challenge, he gave Zdeno Chara a run for his money for fastest slapshot.

However, let's not celebrate the NHL just yet as even during the Blackhawks' march to the Stanley Cup title, you had analysts at the NHL Network describing Byfuglien's play in the playoffs as follows: "Luongo has never seen a player like Byfuglien: tall, big, black, and brash." So apparently, Luongo has never seen a black player before or a black person for that matter lol

But before Byfuglien, Jarome Iginla was the man. And let's not forget the stereotypes that have been shattered by European players in the league as well with Nicklas Lidstrom and Zdeno Chara being captains of Stanley Cup-winning NHL teams. Let's not forget that Euro players were considered, soft, finesse, and lacked the passion and leadership qualities needed to lead a team to a championship (poor Mats Sundin).

But the NHL is certainly going in the right direction.

Jarome Iginla I also liked Anson Carter but I have no idea where he is now. I also like Manny Malholtra.
