Question:
Why are some leaf fans so darn bitter?

Some Leafs fans I've run into lately have been dripping head to toe with envy, their faces red from boiling with deep, internal anger. They are very offended that the Sens are in the final, because they pride themselves on eliminating them a few times, even though that now means absolutely nothing, as the Leafs never did amount much of a threat for the Cup, while the Sens are now in the final.

Just last week I was talking to one of them how Morrison and Naslund will both become UFA the same year as Thornton, Marleau and Iginla, so the Canucks could sign one of them. He cut me off short, saying he didn't wanna talk about the Canucks or the Sen's run or anything hockey. Sounds like bitterness to me, since we have talked hockey with each other for 10 years.

Finally, I would like to post a question posted by Leafs fan 8 months ago. Read the question AND the best answer he chose. LOL!

well, I'm a Sens fan and I live in Toronto, and Leaf Fans somehow think what they did 40 years ago is relevant today...sure they're 2nd in Stanley Cup wins, but their last one was in 1967...

I honestly think its jealousy, Leaf fans have this delusion that all of Canada loves them and that they are the best team in the NHL, which is funny seeing as how they cant make the playoffs anymore, and I think they resent the Sens for doing what they cannot, and probably will not be able to do again...

Just ask Andrew Peters of the Buffalo Sabres < An allusion to the Sabres & Leafs last meeting where the game got ugly and Peters had been chatting with one of the Leafs, and Peters imitated a golf swing, which the Leafs would be taking a lot of out on the links when Buffalo would be in the playoffs. IF they make the playoffs they wont survive the first round. Ottowa is far from the best team in the east, Buffalo is #1.

Just another answer off that question that made me laugh. I mean sure the Sabres were better but that end made me laugh. Ottawa(oh wait Ottowa) is far from the best team? Yeah look what happened. The Sabres once again stopped at the Conference Finals. Just those crazy fans that are unreleastic about how "great" their team is and run down any team that is considered better.

Well I don't wanna sound like I'm painting all Leafs fans with the same brush. I don't think that they are all bitter fans (and I wouldn't know even if they were).

But seriously there is no excuse for that kind of asinine behavior. I know people want to say "you'd be bitter if your team was doing poorly." But come on...it's a sport...it's not life and death...it's not comparable to a marriage...they results of a game should not seriously affect your outlook on life.

If you aren't having fun watching the games, then why watch?

I notice the bitterness and I understand it, no cup since 67, but come on. They used to be amazing, and they have a REAL and large fanbase. Would you rather have a once POWERHOUSE team's fanbase complain or a bunch of bandwagoners making stupid comments, thumbs downs, and questions every other post?

I'll take the Leaf's fans complaining any day.

OK, this is easy. First, 1967 - last time Leafs won the cup and second.... Harold Ballard. The cheapest S.O.B. to ever run a sports franchise next to Eddie Shore. Ballard did not care what was on the ice, just as soon as there were butts in the seats. His teams were bad, but people went to see the games anyways. I hope that answers your question.

As a Leafs fan I'm just stung to have missed tying the last playoff spot by one point. There has still been a lot of good games this postseason, but you can't deny that playoff games with YOUR favorite team in them are a hell of a lot funner to watch even if it's just first round action.

I'm a leaf fan from way back.It really did'nt bother me that they were out of the playoffs. As so were other teams.I will always be a leaf fan,win or lose. Now I'm hoping the senators win the cup just so we can have the cup in Canada.

Wouldn't you be if you were a Leafs fan. It is so easy for them to sit back and be bitter and blame everyone else, except their team and the ownership.

You know what? It sounds crazy but that's what it's like in Toronto. Most of this city's population are complete stuck-up morons who can't swallow their pride. Hell, I'm one of them...well, when it comes to other things, not really hockey. I'm just hoping for Kim Jong-il to drop one right at Yonge and Hwy. 401 to get rid of 60% of the idiots in this world. So I apologize to the world on how stupid people in Toronto really are. And remember, kids, like drugs, say "no" to Toronto. Toronto's bad for you, mmmmokay.

You would be bitter to if you were in a bad marriage...40 years of futility and it will only get worse as the Leafs have no up and coming blue chippers...Leaf fans are not NHL fans...

Why are they the Leafs, not the Leaves? that's not even a word in english.
