I noticed that the Chicago Blackhawks are the only team in the Western Conference playoff race that still hasn't had a winning streak in over a month, and I happen to think they're as overdue as a library book to start a winning streak right now.

What factors do you think have prevented the Blackhawks from having a winning streak?
- They lack the stamina, intensity and urgency necessary to finish games and manufacture points, especially in the 3rd period after the game is tied or when they have the lead.
- Their offense, defense and special teams are still inconsistent
- Lack of depth
- Defensive lapses, due to their constant inability to protect their goalie or to clear pucks out of their neutral zone
- Lack of intensity or desire necessary to play and win an intense 60 minute hockey game on a consistent basis
- They're always outworked and outplayed by other teams in their conference who want to make the NHL playoffs as the Blackhawks

or do the players just need to start executing the fundamentals on offense, defense and special teams, and start trusting each other in times of adversity, and simply play and work as hard as they can for the rest of the season, and eventually they'll be rewarded for their efforts and make one final push for their 3rd straight playoff spot.

What do the Blackhawks need to do to start a winning streak? And, which players do you feel need to step up first and be the man who will start the Blackhawks' new winning streak on Sunday and Monday vs. the Pens and Blues?

And, do you think Sunday's game vs. the Penguins and the follow-up vs. the St. Louis Blues might be the Blackhawks' best shot to start a winning streak?

The "big" line is doing well. Sharp-Toews-Kane are doing good. Even though I never watch them unless they play the Sharks, I can see their defense isn't the defense it was last year. Seabrook & Keith were scoring much more points than what they are this year. The defense allows too many holes for the opposing offense to go in, shoot, and score. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th line are inconsistent. The problem for the Blackhawks that has them a step away from last year is getting rid of all the players. They got rid of Dustin Byfuglien. They also gave away Brent Sopel, Ben Eager, Antti Niemi, and much more. The reason why the Thrashers are so good is because Chicago gave most of their players to them. To get a win streak going, they need better defense and more consistency on the other lines. True; the top 8 teams in the Western Conference are gaining points as they go by games, so the Blackhawks need a win streake to get into the top 8.

That's a great analysis of it, but really, I don't think a winning streak (by definition) is anything a team needs. They're nice and all, but what a team does during the regular season isn't as important as what they do the playoffs.

Far be it for me to extol the Flyers, but look at where they finished last season. The Penguins played like crap the year they won the Cup against Detroit. What matters most of all is how well a team plays each and every playoff opponent. That makes where they finish a moot point. Division titles, Conference titles and the Presidents Trophy are overrated.

If the Hawks make the playoffs (no doubt they will) then how they play their first draw is all that matters. Look into their performance versus their potential playoff opponents and compare that record to how those teams have performed against one another. You'll find very few exceptions where one team has smoked any other opponent. My point is just what I said earlier - that the regular season isn't anything to get excited about.

this is nonsense. there's no logical reason to what's occurring different than the shown fact that the bruins have numerous momentum now. The playoffs is all approximately momentum. the two communities are superb and the blackhawks are no longer doomed yet. they have basically performed 3 video games and because they chop up the sequence in Chicago, between the communities replaced into going to have a 2-a million sequence lead after 3 video games. It additionally relies upon on what style the team performs. Chicago, while they are in a position to triumph over Boston, are enjoying their very own style and are not attempting to play the actual Boston style. while they attempt to play Boston's style, they forget approximately approximately protecting and scoring through fact they try to spend too plenty time hitting. this is the reason it replaced into relatively uncomplicated for the Bruins against the Rangers and Penguins. through fact the Rangers and Penguins have been attempting to play a style that they are no longer. this is yet another reason the leafs fantastically much upset them interior the 1st around. through fact they have a similar style as Boston and while they have been hitting them, they have been enjoying their style. if that they have been extra matured, they in all hazard might of gained that sequence yet it relatively is a distinctive tale. anyhow, the Blackhawks are no longer doomed, they simply could play their very own style and that they gets opportunities, bounces and could beat Rask,

True. But they still wont make the playoffs. The'll come close, but go 0-2 and get 0 points in their last two games against the Wings.
